FUNDS AVAILABLE (TRIBAL BURIAL FUND)

On September 24, 2016, the General Council and Business Committee of the Kickapoo Tribe authorized funds to be made available to tribal members in the amount of $7000.

Depending on the type of funeral to be held, the amount of the check request will vary. For instance, the family usually requests a portion of the total amount ($5000) if a Kickapoo traditional funeral is held and the remainder will be used for tribal adoption at a later date, usually within four years. The request for the remaining balance will be honored only within a week or two of the adoption.

If a non-Kickapoo funeral is held and a funeral home is used, it will be made out to the funeral home and any remaining balance can be requested by family.
