Mission Statement:
To provide an effective and fair forum to handle all matters of law arising under the duly enacted laws of the Kickapoo Tribal Code. To create and maintain a working relationship within the area of other jurisdictions and service providers.
History of the Court:
On April 3, 1987, the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma adopted an agreement with Sac and Fox Tribe of Oklahoma, to designate the Court of the Sac and Fox Tribe of Oklahoma, as the Court for the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma.
This Court heard matters: On July 1, 1991, the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma administered their own Judicial system at the Kickapoo Tribe Complex.

Outside Resources:
We currently have Tammy Stoilby a representative from the Oklahoma Indian Legal Services (OILS) that comes once a month to provide free services to those who meet the eligibility requirements.
Appointments are from 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Contact Tribal Court at (405) 964-4136 to schedule an appointment and walk-ins are welcomed.

Eligibility Requirements:
Must be Native American who is an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe, who meets the income guidelines.
Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA):
In 2006, the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act, P.L. 109-248, was passed. Title I of the Adam Walsh Act requires the tribe to opt in to the national registry system or transfer their jurisdiction over such matters to states. The Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma currently has an active Sex Offender Registry and a public website for the community. http://kickapoo.nsopw.gov

Who Must Register:
Any person who was sentenced with sex offender offense: resides on Kickapoo trust land or works for the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma (clinic, casino, etc.) All sex offenders will be on the Kickapoo Tribe’s Sex Offender Registry for life.
Safe Zone:
Any sex offender must stay 1000 feet from the Kickapoo Day Care and Head Start building.
